Ciara loves to make homemade cards.  She can whip one up for just about any occasion.  Here are two of my favorites from 20 cards that she made me for my birthday this year:

The 1st one:  (hard to see cause she drew it in highlighter)

"Even if you die, I will always love you more than anything.
 Love your favorite daudgter,
Ciara Mari"

The 2nd one:  (No sugar coating here!)

"34?
Wow"

1st Graders aren't required to do Science Fair Projects but it is the first year they are allowed to participate individually.  In fact up until the third grade, most classes usually do a group project.

Riley was required to do a project and Ciara was determined that she was not going to be left out of the fun.  All you parents out there now that Science Projects are not only homework for the kids, but for mom and dad too, so I was not thrilled to have to supervise two of them.

But Ciara was really determined to do a project.  The first project that she picked, did not work so with two days until it was due we had to find a new one.   Of course we needed a project that did not need any kind of time lapse, growing time, cultures etc.  We decided on a project titled "Which Popcorn pops the best?"  Pretty self explanatory.  We bought different brands of popcorn to see which ones produced the most popped popcorn and the least amount of unpopped kernels.

We stayed up pretty late gluing everything down and making it look pretty.  The journal had to be hand written but Ciara stuck to it and finished the entire thing.  She turned in her project on time and it looked great.

We went to Science Fair night for the judging.  They gave out one award after another.  Finally they announced that this award was very special.  That in all the time the judge had been judging the science fair, a first grader had never won first place.  Then they announced Ciara's name and we were soo surprised!!  Ciara was so happy and boy were Mom and Dad proud.

Trip #3 for the tooth fairy this month!
February 15th, 2009 ~ Yet another lost tooth!

Ciara lost yet another tooth this month, bringing the total to three for the month of February.  (And there is still another 13 days left in the month!)  The tooth was loose on one side and hanging on slightly on the other side.  Ciara would spin the tooth around with her tongue and it was causing some discomfort especially when she ate.   Chris tried to pull the tooth out yesterday but she said it hurt and we thought that maybe it needed a few more days.
Today Ciara turned to our good friend and resident "Expert tooth puller" Elaine while we were at church.  Elaine pulled out her tooth AND gave her a dollar.  Check out Ciara's cute smile.

Ciara has had a loose tooth for several weeks now.  Yesterday we were at the Radichels and she showed me her tooth that was all discolored and barely hanging on.  I told her "I wish you would just pull that darn thing out!"  Elaine said to her that she was the "best tooth puller ever" and that if Ciara let her pull it out she would give her a dollar.  So with Elaine's help, out came Ciara's tooth.  So she got a dollar from Elaine and another from the tooth fairy.

Today she lost yet another tooth and has a third one that is not far behind.  She looks really cute with all her missing teeth.  (Spitting food through the gaps is not as cute)

January 9th, 2009 - Disney On Ice

Riley and Aunt Cheryl share a love for the Cardinals so they love to attend Cards games together.  Ciara went to a game with Aunt Cheryl too and although she had a good time it wasn't really her favorite thing to do.  So Aunt Cheryl decided they would find something different to do that Ciara would really enjoy.  So off they went to enjoy The Lion King, Tinkerbell, The Little Mermaid and Cars on Ice.  They had a wonderful time and found a new thing that they enjoyed to do together.
